Even though we were the dreaded people who come in closing time .. the service was friendly and fast. But the food. Oh my. I got the daily special of Ham Carbonara lasagna and my husband got the kicking chicken. Whomever creates these recipes really understand food, flavour and they were - not to exaggerate .. some of the best ish I ever put in my mouth. We wished we lived closer.
I understand that the owners leave during the summer months and this is more than apparent, as I cannot believe how disappointing this place was after so many people had recommended it. On a positive note, I think it's so great for a restaurant in Rocky to have some local craft beer on tap, however, the server didn't know anything about any of them. The beer menu could have at least had some descriptions to help us decide what to try. When we received our flights of beer, they weren't labeled as to which beer was which, so we had no way of knowing what we were tasting. The food came out barely warm, I would have mentioned something, but the server never checked in to see how everything was or to see if we needed refills. The entire experience was a complete joke. Don't waste your time during the summer months, hopefully they get their act together once the owners are back.
Ordering a meal led to a interesting conversation with the server, who was kind hearted, and the recipient of good will from the community and that was a blessing for the money spent. The meal was slop. We threw it away, nicely after getting to go plates. It was charred, not burnt. It was dry. it was a mess. Maybe because it was closing time it was left overs, but I can hardly imagine anyone eating anything close to what we were served. The coleslaw was bland, and tastless, and large chunks. Authentic, I think not, my partner was from North Carolina, we have been to over 250 communities in past year, and had MANY pulled pork. This one is memorable, in that it was the worse meal we ever ordered of any meal in any restaurant. If that was the goal of the owner to serve that slop to us, and to be remembered, they did a great job, cause in about 1500 eat out meals in the past year, they were the worse. So go have a beer, and talk to the nice wattress.
Great flavor and authentic BBQ and real mashed potatoes. One star deducted because of the small portion size, a guest should never be left hungry. Good local beer selection too!
Food was ok,but cold and portions not as expected for cost. Got platter with no tools to eat. Will go back later in life to see how it evolves with time.
